DGS Mustangs vs. Bolingbrook

It was an exciting weekend for those of us that are high school football fans. Friday night was supposed to be the kick off of the 2007 season, but because of all of the storms that we got in the Midwest last week the Downers game was rescheduled for Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. at Benedictine University, a local private university. The game did not disappoint. It had been publicized all week as the game to watch…both teams are expected to do well this year in the state competition and are loaded with talent. As expected, the game came down to the last 2:00 minutes with Bolingbrook threatening to score. They were on the Downers’ 6 yard line and the score was 10 (DGS) to 7. The amazing defense of DGS held them to go on and win the game. I am still not sure why Bolingbrook went for the win on 4th down rather than kicking a field goal for a tie, but the defense did it’s job and the victory was exciting. Congratulations guys. Way to start your season.
