The annual regular season battle for Downers Grove high school football bragging rights ended with a victory for the Mustangs. This has always been a great rivalry because so many of the guys grew up competing with and against each other in Panther football as youth. Nonetheless, you could feel the camaraderie in the air the minute you stepped out of your car in the parking lot. Groups of loyal fans were gathered together playing bags, grilling hot dogs and decking themselves out in their favorite team’s colors!!! You could hear the sounds of Friday night football as both bands were gearing up for their performances and crowds of people from the community were pouring in the gates to cheer on their respective team. It really is a special night and a fantastic tradition.
In addition to this being the Mustangs home opener for the season, it was also “Senior Night”, and what a perfect night it was to recognize all of the seniors and their parents.
This week the Hit Hard Gang will travel to Willowbrook to continue their conference play! The win over the Trojans improved the Mustangs record to 2-2 for the season. Good luck guys…HIT HARD!
