No Red Jersey…WHAT???…

This post is for everyone that has been kind enough to ask me how Chandler’s doing in college and with football. It’s hard to believe that he is almost done with his first semester in college. He has survived having a roommate, a grueling schedule, classes that caught him off guard, six am practices, spring football, and even his first big hit in the Big Ten. What…he has already been hit??? Yes sir…go figure! The first scrimmage that I decide to go to with camera in hand…the coaches thought that it would be a good idea to take the red jerseys off the qbs and find out how tough they really are because they are a group of young guys. I know Chandler was ready to go, but I have to be honest and say that I am still “the mom” and I love me some football, but I hate being the mom of a football player. So red jersey off and “fresh meat” on the field, Chandler stood in there and took a HUGE hit and yes, I captured it. Thankfully he survived and I know there are many more to come because his true passion is on the grid iron, but I have to admit that as much as I love football…I still think there is something wrong with all of us that we enjoy this sport so much (have you seen how big these guys are???)! So he will continue to get hit, I will continue to hold my breath on every play, but in the end I am still proud of the man that he has become and that he is living his dream. Thanks to all of you for always caring so much about us. You guys are the best!!! Go Illini! Enjoy?!?!?!

Tricia…

You must have read my mind, I was just thinking about Chandler and thought that I would check your blog for an update. From your details, it sure sounds as though he is doing well and staying very busy while on campus. I am very proud of him, I knew that he was someone special, you and Mike are very blessed.
