From Farm To Table…

One of my favorite things about summertime is the beautiful abundance that the local farmers work so hard to provide all of us.

During our trip to London, I spent some time with a very talented food photographer that shared this video with me.  She then asked what words or feelings did I experience while watching it.  I instantly was taken back to my childhood and the time that our family spent together in South Georgia shucking corn, snapping peas, shelling butter beans and cracking pecans.  Honestly, at the time I didn’t find anything about it fun, nor was I able to appreciate the hard work that went into producing all of that homegrown goodness, but I certainly enjoyed the family time and subconsciously the teamwork that drew us all closer together.

I am not a master of canning vegetables, or making preserves, but I often find myself quite nostalgic about the process and the many memories that I have of watching several generations of my family working together on a hot and humid summer afternoon.

There is no more honest work than farming, and perhaps it’s just one more reason that I am drawn to living smack dab in the middle of farm country.

Happy Farming!

ENJOY!!!
