Twenty Three…

Has it really been 23 years?!?!?

My job as the pilot has slowly gravitated towards the passenger and I’m all strapped in and ready to be a part of your next adventure.  The things that you have taught me about life surprisingly seem to largely out number the ones that I have taught you, and although I may often be screaming “SLOW DOWN AND BE CAREFUL”, there’s a big part of me that has learned so much about myself by watching you always GO FOR IT…keep reaching for the furthest star and embracing ALL that this life has to offer.

Happy Birthday, son.

ENJOY!!!

Zebu…

There’s something so magical about summer and all of the time that you can get outdoors and explore.  You may remember this beautiful pasture that I posted about here.  Since that posting, I have found myself drawn to revisiting these animals every time that I am traveling in their direction, and even sometimes when it’s not exactly on the way.

On a recent visit, I was tickled that I got to meet one of the owners of these sweet cows and she was kind enough to fill me in on the breed.  They are Zebus and are some of the most beautiful animals that I have ever seen.  Originally from the jungles of South Asia this species of cattle is better known as the humped cattle or Brahman.  I won’t bore you with all of the details that I found so fascinating, but I will tell you that I just can’t help myself from visiting their pasture over and over again.

Will you PLEASE look at the baby calf?!  I’m certain that you have never seen anything that precious AND the owner recently mentioned to me that they haven’t yet settled on his name.  She even asked me if I had any ideas.  I am so unqualified for this whole naming thing, after all, I only named one child and a handful of pets in my whole entire life, but I gotta tell you that there is a huge part of me that has daydreamed, ever since we bought this little farmhouse, about a future full of farm-animals and how much fun we would have giving each of them their names and raising them.  Maybe this is a little baby step in my farm-girl dreams, but I must admit that I did cheat just a little bit and took a social media poll to help with suggestions.

My original thoughts without cheating were:

Duke, Roscoe, Huck, Beau or Chester

however, after I mentioned to everyone that the calf was a male and that his mom is Rosie and dad is Bullet, these are some of the pretty creative suggestions that I got from everyone else:

Rhett, Zebulon, Laso, Chandy, Buddy, Gunner, Axel, Buckshot, Chip, Rye, Butterscotch, S’mores, and the list went on and on

I don’t know how serious the owner was about my suggesting a name, but it pretty much made my day and in my mind, this little fella will always be extra special regardless of the name that he is given.

ENJOY!!!

Vintage Scout Interiors…

The minute our paths reconnected a few years ago on social media I knew that good things were headed my way.  There are no limits to this girl’s talents and having the opportunity to collaborate with her and her team on several projects has been nothing short of amazing.  Because I have mentioned her often here on this blog, I thought it only fitting to allow you all to put a face with a name.

These were taken with her babies last summer after a long day of shooting at Three Hearts Farm.  YES, she still looks this fabulous after a hard day’s work, and YES, her babies are the best.  Next time we’ll grab her sweet hubby for a few shots, but until then enjoy the laughter between these three.

ENJOY!!!

English Sheep…

A client recently ordered a beautiful canvas of The Gold Hill which was taken on our trip to London in February.  It made me realize that there are so many wonderful images that I haven’t yet visited from that trip and that I need to slow down and share just a few at a time with all of you.  Let’s start with the main attraction of our trip…THE SHEEP.  As much as I loved visiting the city during the week while we were there, my countryside heart was secretly counting down the days until we could make our way out to the local farms, and I knew that I would be completely smitten with these fellas.  Needless to say, they didn’t disappointed and I’m certain that you can see why.

ENJOY!!!
