Belmont Stakes

We were hoping that this iPhone video would be our little keepsake of a history making Triple Crown winner, but it quickly became just a personal family memory.  The Kentucky Derby has been on my bucket list for quite some time, and since Chandler is again spending his summer in New England preparing for his final season of college football, we decided at the very last minute to try and pull together a trip over to Elmont to be there when history was made.

Although California Chrome came up just a little short and we were all certainly disappointed, we are now hooked on spending a day at the tracks.  The horses are gorgeous and I could fill this post with funny stories about how I picked the winners based on how pretty I thought they were and was even naive enough to pick a “fluffer horse” as the winner before I learned that they were there for a whole other purpose entirely.  To be honest, I just assumed that Chrome would win with ease, but I quickly became aware that winning would have been quite a feat and that is exactly why there are only a small number of horses that have been able to accomplish the almost impossible.

Now with a little more experience, I am completely ready for The Derby in 2015 and can’t wait to be a part of all of the pomp and circumstance that goes along with it.

I have never posted an iPhone video on this blog so if you are unable to watch it, here is a pretty picture of one of our neighbor horses.  There is something so special about being in the presence of these soulful creatures, and I’m grateful that my neighbors are kind enough to allow me full time access.

ENJOY!!!

Pick With A Pro…

If you guys love flea markets and pickin’, then you don’t want to miss the 2nd Annual Pick With A Pro Retreat hosted by Atlanta’s own Blue Eyed Yonder.

Last year’s trip to the 127-Sale better known as the World’s Longest Yardsale was amazing.  We made new friends, shared some great food, stories and laughs, and at the end of the day each of us returned home with some helpful pickin’ tips, collectibles and memories.

If you or someone you know has always wanted to experience this sale, which stretches from Alabama to Michigan, then this trip is for you.  You can visit Blue Eyed Yonder’s website to find all of the details and to go ahead and register.

Listen, I am by no means an expert thrifter, picker, collector, or glorified hoarder, but boy oh boy did I have a blast hanging out with the best of the best and capturing a few of the memories that we made.

ENJOY!!!

Baylee…

Congratulations to all of the graduates as you embark on a new and exciting journey in your young lives.  What an exciting time for all of you.

I had so much fun working with this sweet lady a few weeks ago.  Baylee has been a friend for years and has been such an inspiration to me as she has chased her personal dream of playing top level basketball and has succeeded in so many ways.  She has give this dream every single thing that she has and although she had a physical set back this year, I have absolutely no doubt that she will be back on top of her game in no time at all.

Thank you for letting me capture this chapter in your life, and I look forward to following your journey over the next 4 years…love you!

ENJOY!!!

Party in the Pretty Pasture…

Honest to goodness, the more we explore our area the more I actually have to pinch myself that we get to call this little place home.  It’s the ideal spot for us to find rest, entertainment and the constant discovery of what is so very good for the soul.

When I first discovered this pasture, on a recent drive by, I was at a total loss for words.  It is the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen and the animals are all so delicate, friendly and photogenic. It’s safe to say that I have been back by most every day since we found it and it takes my breath away every single time.

Today I finally met the farmer, who more than likely believes that I am a nutty stalker at this point, and he showed me their newest little calf which was born just last week.  I almost fell on the floor and can’t wait to head back over with camera in hand so that I can share him with all of you.  The cuteness will be more than you can stand.

One day I just may write a book about all of our shenanigans on this farm, the people we’ve met, the things that we’ve learned and how it has changed who we are in so many ways.  Don’t you think it would be fitting to use this first picture of the donkey scratching his back as the jacket cover?  I’m not ashamed to admit that this country living has completely turned my world upside down and for that I am so incredibly grateful.

ENJOY!!!
