The Miracle of New…

My farmer neighbors are so incredibly patient with me, but I know that they must be thinking to themselves “oh dear, here she comes again straight from the streets of suburbia with more questions beginning with “how and why” than a two your old toddler…not to mention the fact that I usually show up for the glamorous parts of the job without a single speck of dirt on me, and you can guarantee that I am carrying a camera in one hand and an iPhone in the other, but I just can’t seem to get enough.  I am in complete awe of what they do day to day and have total gratitude for the lessons and experiences that they are willing to share with me.

For instance, once every year, or maybe every other year, a new mommy cow shuns her newborn calf OR the calf is simply born too weak to stand long enough to nurse so the farmer has to intervene which is exactly what happened with this sweet little fella that was born here on Mother’s Day.  Because he was so weak, the farmers had to come and assist him in latching on to his mommy in hopes that he would gain some strength and wouldn’t need to be brought up to the barn and bottle fed for 6 weeks.

There were so many magical moments that I witnessed including the farmers working side by side at an exhausting task, that at times was a bit chaotic, trying to take the very best care of this little one as possible, and then there were the constant reminders everywhere I turned of the miracle of birth and life itself.

It’s all pretty fantastic and this photographer sure is thanking her lucky stars that she gets to call this place home and that her neighbors are always welcoming enough to call her friend.

ENJOY!!!

Foggy Sunrise…

It’s the truth…I have ALWAYS been a morning person.  Over the years it has slowly turned into a really early morning person, but that doesn’t always mean that I rush to get out from under the covers; however, if there is even a slight glimpse of fog in sight, you can bet that I am up and out the door, with camera in hand of course, in a flash.  There’s just something magically romantic about the calm that surrounds this farm when it is covered in fog.  It’s a special kind of magic, and well worth an early morning wander.

Have a fantastic week friends.

ENJOY!!!

Jacob .&. Kayla…

I can’t stop smiling at Jacob and Kayla’s final images from last weekend’s wedding at Brasstown Valley Resort.   I’m so incredibly grateful to have a job that I get to not only create, but share in some of the most wonderful moments in people’s lives. These two are pretty special to me, and I can’t wait to share more of their love story just as soon as they get back from their honeymoon.

And just a little side note…it did, in fact, rain on their wedding day, but we shared a whole bunch of lucky moments, and I know without a doubt that their love will always be able to weather any storm…xoxo, you two.

ENJOY!!!

Jersey Baby…

Let’s talk about how adorable these babies are and how I have never in my life seen a cow as BIG, and mind you that I have been up close and personal with some pretty enormous animals since moving to this farm, as the one in the first picture.  You can even see how big she is compared to the others by the size of her back end  in the second picture at the trough.  I wish that I could have gotten closer to her, but I may or may not have been trespassing when I shot these images.  OKAY, I was totally trespassing, but come on, who could resist these faces?!?!?

ENJOY!!!
