I love sunday dresses and when the ocean kisses the shore…

I am currently dying over this recent early morning beach session.  This fall has been full of so many wonderful sessions and visits with both old friends and new, and you know me, I am over anxious to share them all, but we’ll just have to wait until everyone’s cards have been mailed and then I promise to flood this blog with magic.

Happy Thursday!

Peek-a-boo sunlight…

Last week while driving to  a session and hoping that the the sun would shine, because you all know how much I adore golden sunlight in my photography, I happened to look up and notice the rays slowly beaming through the clouds.  Never has there been a time that I was more thankful to have my camera nearby.

Needless to say, I had no words, but then by chance I saw this quote on a fellow photographer’s blog and I knew that this image, which stopped me in my tracks, and this thoughtful quote were destined to be featured together here on my blog.

“I want you to tell me about every person you’ve ever been in love with. Tell me why you loved them, then tell me why they loved you. Tell me about a day in your life you didn’t think you’d live through. Tell me what the word “home” means to you and tell me in a way that I’ll know your mothers name just by the way you describe your bed room when you were 8. See, I wanna know the first time you felt the weight of hate and if that day still trembles beneath your bones. Do you kiss your friends on the cheek? Do you think that anger is a sincere emotion or just the timid motion of a fragile heart trying to beat away its pain? See, I wanna know what you think of your first name. And if you often lie awake at night and imagine your mothers joy when she spoke it for the very first time. I want you tell me all the ways you’ve been unkind. Tell me all the ways you’ve been cruel.Do you believe that Mary was really a virgin? Do you believe that Moses really parted the sea? And if you don’t believe in miracles, tell me, how would you explain the miracle of my life to me? And for all the times you’ve knelt before the temple of yourself, have the prayers you’ve asked come true? And if they didn’t did you feel denied? And if you felt denied, denied by who[m]? I wanna know what you see when you look in the mirror on a day you’re feeling good. I wanna know what you see in the mirror on a day a day you’re feeling bad. I wanna know the first person who ever taught you your beauty could ever be reflected on a lousy piece of glass. If you ever reach enlightenment, will you remember how to laugh? Have you ever been a song? See, I wanna know more than what you do for a living. I wanna know how much of your life you spend just giving. And if you love yourself enough to also receive sometimes. I wanna know if you bleed sometimes through other people’s wounds. And if you dream sometimes that this life is just a balloon that if you wanted to you could pop—but you never would because you’d never want it to stop.”

Stampington (Instagram)…

“Writing is 90 percent procrastination: reading magazines, eating cereal out of the box, watching infomercials. It’s a matter of doing everything you can to avoid writing, until it is about four in the morning and you reach the point where you have to write.”

~ Paul Rudnick

I can’t even begin to tell you how true this actually is for me, but I was so honored to have been contacted by Stampington & Company to be a guest blogger that after a whole bunch of silence at the keyboard I was finally able to find the words (link to article).

Rural Roads…

Last week, we drove through rural south Georgia on our way to Sea Island and some pretty amazing beach sessions.  It was an absolutely beautiful fall day with more breathtaking vibrant color with every turn we made.

Of course, I was completely drawn to the curious secrets down every dirt road that we passed and so what should have been a short trip turned into a fairly long photo journey of our time on the road, but it sure was good for the mind and soul.

Turning Back the Clocks…

Despite my awareness that life is full of constant change, the creature of habit in me usually faces just a little anxiety when there is a shift in the routine.

Hope you’re all having a great start to your November and taking full advantage of your extra hour this morning.

ENJOY!!!
