YOU DID IT…

THANK YOU to everyone, both locally and nationally, that contributed to this year’s Dando Amor shoe drive.  I am always in awe and so inspired by what each of us can accomplish when we work together.

there’s much to be learned from the kind hearts and innocence of our children..

Shoes For Love | Give + Get…

One of the most memorable experiences of my life was the week that I spent in the orphanages of Ecuador with the non profit group Dando Amor (www.dandoamor.com).  It is hard to believe that the trip was almost 2 years ago…I have every intention of making it back because not a day goes by that I don’t think about those children and how their lives must have changed over that two year time period.

This month I am partnering with Dando Amor, along with other photographers and studios across the country, for a National “Shoes For Love” Shoe Drive.  Yes, shoes!!!  Something that so many of us take for granted and even have in excess, but there are 1.5 billion people around the world that don’t even have one pair of shoes.  Many of those are precious children!!  Yet…we throw away OVER 680 million pairs of shoes in every year right here in the USA.

In an effort to make this a “GIVE & GET” situation for all of you, my generous clients, I am going to be offering a day of Snapshot Sessions on Saturday, March 30th.  These are going to be 30-minute sessions and will include a free high-resolution image of your choosing, AND I am going to offer anyone that books one of these sessions and shows up with a single pair or a bag full of shoes a $50 gift card for TriciaLee Photography.  We aren’t being choosy…please bring any kind of shoe, any size and in any condition.  Please help me make a dent in this sadness and let’s make this a special experience for your family together.

These sessions are going to be on a beautiful 34-acre farm in the heart of Holly Springs, GA.  YES, I am over the moon excited about this amazing location and getting to spend an afternoon with all of you.

Thanks in advance for your support…I have some major “Spring Cleaning” to do myself.  Yes, shoes are my THING and it’s time to roll up my sleeves and start eliminating the excess.  If you would like more information on these sessions, please e-mail me directly at tricialee@windstream.net.

ENJOY!!!

Ah, Spring. Where are you…

My absolute favorite season is approaching.   And get this:  I know it is coming because there are colorful signs popping up everywhere I turn.   But, I can’t let winter pass without sharing a little taste of its simple (COLD) beauty.  To be perfectly honest, as long as that BIG beautiful sun is glowing in the sky, I can survive most anything.  I totally have a crush on it and yes, it is a NEED, for me, not a simple want.  Just a glimpse of it seems to set all good things in motion, at least in my little world.

Anyway, last week, I decided to take the morning off and head out early to catch the first rays of sunlight and little ice flakes gathering here, there and most everywhere. Below is a little taste of what I saw before I started to realize that my fingers were FREEZING.  Truth is I’m not real sure how I survived even one winter in Chicago.  These days my freezing point is back to southern normal…somewhere around 50 degrees or so.

One of the best parts of our morning drive to the gym is pulling through this sunshine splendor.  The light is simply magical and somehow seems to be reaching down to wrap its arms tightly around us insuring another glorious day.

There’s just something about it that makes everything seem much more peaceful and beautiful in the winter.  In the mist of all of the gloom of bare trees and pavement, the light just illuminates in a way that simply doesn’t happen any other time of the year.

Simply Me…

Let me just get this out there right from the start…I struggle being in front of the camera.

One of the greatest challenges of being a portrait photographer is making your clients feel at ease enough in front of your lens, to simply be themselves.  It is also one of the sweetest rewards, when for a split second your subject no longer fears the camera, but slowly recognizes that they are free to be themselves in all of their glory.

My goal is to conquer my own fear and learn to let down my hair a bit and be vulnerable and real in all of life’s circumstances.  Yet, I still struggle in front of the camera, but because I have a son and one day grandchildren that I know will want to know who I was and what I looked like, I decided to just do it.

So when Rachel was in town a couple of weeks ago, I took her up on her offer and decided “why not?!?!?”.  My hopes were that she would only shoot a couple of shots, and I really didn’t want it to be about my face, but more about the details.  That is probably because I STILL struggle, but what a gift Rachel has.  She was so much fun and we simply laughed at each other and with each other and before I knew it the pain had disappered, and she had made me forget all about the camera and what she was up to.

Oh and yes, these are my “shooting boots”, they clearly weren’t supposed to be part of the details, but they made it in the shots anyway.  I suppose it is only fitting because they are always behind the lens and have traveled quite a journey with me.

Thank you Rachel for your gift and for letting me be and feel like SIMPLY ME!

ENJOY!!!
