One of the things that I love most about my job is meeting so many new people and having a small part in capturing memories of their life experiences, or a small part of their journey towards reaching their full potential as artist in this industry. The question that I find myself always asking over and over again…not sure if it is the right question and it has absolutely nothing to do with photography…is “have you read any good books lately”. As odd as that may be, it REALLY is a great “ice breaker” and always starts up an enlightening conversation.
And just like that, I asked my new friend Shelley Mead, of Dallas, the “ice breaker” question. She is a person that truly GETS IT…she inspires me, and connects with other people on such a deep level simply by the way she listens. You’ll want to put her on your radar…you just remember that I told you that. Oh and you will certainly want to have the privilege of calling her your friend. There isn’t another one like her out there.
Last month, Shelley recommended that I read the book “Same Kind of Different As Me” by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. Without giving away too much about the story, it will make you laugh…it will make you cry…and most importantly it will help to mold you. Quite frankly, it is INCREDIBLE!!! I recommend that you go get a copy…NOW PLEASE.
Life is so FULL of hope, promise and joy for us all…it doesn’t have to be EASY…it just has to be POSSIBLE.
