Tractors and Hay…

Sweet summer pleasures have arrived in the South.  Despite lots of rain around here, the first hay of the season has been cut and there are beautiful round bales surrounding our little farmhouse.  Nothing says summertime quite like the sight of these tractors, the kind people that run them and the smell of freshly cut grass.

And there is nothing more entertaining on a summer evening than frolicking between bales in our bare feet chasing fireflies in a wide-mouth Mason jar.  Once we have a treasure trove of fireflies, you will probably find us plucking winter white and golden yellow honeysuckle and quickly licking the sweet syrup from the end of the blooms.

There’ll be front porch swinging, bonfires, new friends, old friends, swimming in the local watering holes, hours in the garden planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, road trips, mosquito bites, longer days and shorter nights, and when the season that seemingly last forever is all said and done, the memories that we’ve made together will be cherished for a lifetime.

Here’s to you, Southern Summers.

ENJOY!!!
