Christmas in New York City…

It has to be to be THE most alive and electric city in the whole world at Christmastime, and if you have never had the opportunity to experience New York City in December, then PLEASE make it a ‘must do” on your list.

I remember how terrified I was the first time I visited New York in the summer of 2003. Perhaps it was a little bit of the “Georgia Girl can’t handle The Big City” feeling that had me thinking that I just wasn’t going to be a huge fan. However, I LOVED every little thing about it. The public transportation wasn’t the BIG BAD MONSTER that I feared it would be and I certainly loved everything about being outdoors ALL the time. We must have walked 40 miles in those couple of days, but for some reason it just didn’t seem that exhausting. After all, that’s just what you do in New York City.

So of course, this trip I knew for sure that I would be walking until my legs almost fell off, but there was something even more magical about being out in the hustle and bustle and bumping shoulders with thousands of other people that were simply soaking up the experience of New York City at Christmas. Not even horns honking and siren blaring all day long could put a damper on my spirits. As a matter of fact, they added to the feeling of excitement. I found a silly grin glued on my face the whole entire trip.

It was an amazing experience for people of ALL ages…young and old, from any country, and speaking any language. I can’t tell you the number of different languages that I heard (or maybe they were all the same “different” language, but it wasn’t that good ‘ole Georgia Drawl that I am SO comfortable with), but one thing was very apparent…everyone was saying the exact same thing and for that particular moment experiencing the same invigoration from being exactly where we were. It really didn’t matter what language you were speaking it was quite simply A MOMENT TO REMEMBER.

Yes, there are the standard pictures of, “Here we are in front of …“Time Square”, Rockefeller Center”, Central Park, The Statue of Liberty, The Brooklyn Bridge, etc., but here is a small taste of how I saw New York City in December of 2010.

It’s an experience worth sharing, indeed!

Annnnnd…this will be my very last post of the year. I’m off to take a little time and soak up the sights and sounds of Houston, Texas.

ENJOY!!!
