nutty neighbors spring 2013…

One afternoon last week, I decided to grab my 24mm lens and spend the afternoon in the pasture.  Everything is so vibrant and beautiful here…it’s the kind of spring that I want to make sure that we will always remember.

My neighbors are constantly curious, quite HUGE, and yet very gentle and yes, always entertaining.  Any opportunity that we take to climb the fence and mingle amongst them promises to be a new and exciting one!  At the same time, it always has a way of reminding me that I am such a novice at this and yet I soak up every minute of it.  There is just something about the enormity of the cows that makes my heart skip an extra beat when they come charging toward me.  You see, they just love to get up close and personal, and for whatever reason it’s something that I just can’t seem to get enough of…I am in complete awe of these nutty, amazing animals.

Here’s a window into what my camera saw and what my eyes are so thankful to see each and every single day.

ENJOY!!!

Scottsdale Weekend…

I was so happy to have the opportunity to get away last weekend, and I even caught myself trying things that I would have NEVER EVER considered doing in the past.  All the while, I kept thinking of Benjamin Button and his words of wisdom because I am indeed afraid of heights:

“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be.  There’s no time limit, start whenever you want.  You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing.  We can make the best or the worst of it.  I hope you make the best of it.  And I hope you see things that startle you.  I hope you feel things that you have never felt before.  I hope you meet people with a different point of view.  I hope you live a life you’re proud of.  And if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

Here are just a few of my iPhone photos…they are becoming my new favorite way to capture memories and Instagram is the way that I choose to share them.

Happy Friday.

ENJOY!!!

Our pilot was a REAL cowboy…for some reason, I found comfort in that.  His words of advice were “if you’re afraid of heights, don’t look down…keep your eyes on the horizon”.  Yes, my eyes were GLUED to the horizon, but I knew that I would walk away with some pretty amazing pictures and memories if I could just find a way to make this happen.  It’s safe to say that I LOVE photography more than I fear heights…go figure.

featured…flea market decor magazine…

I still can’t believe it, but it happened!

After being featured in the Spring 2013 issue, I was contacted by the editor of Flea Market Decor requesting some of my images to feature on their website.

I was completely stunned and couldn’t think of anything else to say except “UM, SURE”….I’m always calm, cool and collected that way.

Inside I was totally giddy and squealing at the top of my lungs.

The hardest part has been sitting tight waiting for May 1st to finally get here, and keeping my lips zipped (that is a REAL challenge for me), but I did it and I can finally spill the beans…

If you love all things old and the challenge of making them look new again, please grab a cup of joe, cozy up and get ready to spend hours learning tips and secrets of how to incorporate flea market style in your own home.  It promises to be a full afternoon of style bliss and yes, I am a total junkie.

A special thanks to Elaine, of Beckett Media, and especially my beautiful and extremely talented dear friend Debbie Basnett, of Vintage Scout Interiors, for making this dream come true.  You are a real gem of a gal pal.

There’s so many dreams that have come true inside the walls of this 104 year old farmhouse, and the journey that we are sharing promises MANY more in the future.

ENJOY!!!

Tricia, I am so proud of you and I know that Ann and Ralph would be busting with pride. You are certainly a very successful photographer. I enjoy following your beautiful pictures on Facebook.

I have happy memories of a special group of young people, both at First Baptist Church, Conyers and Heritage High School.

Thanks so much, Mrs. Gibbs. That really means a lot to me…I too have those same happy memories and treasure them all. XOXO

A little Lovely Inspiration…

I’m so very anxious to share with all of you the week that I recently spent in Sea Island, Georgia with so many talented people, but I just haven’t been able to put together the words that will begin to do the whole experience justice.  Our images are still under wraps, but we were able to use our iPhones to capture a few of the details and share our experiences on Instagram.  If curiosity kills you like it does me, please check out this post from the amazing Elizabeth Messina.

If that blew your socks off and you’ve never seen so much lovely in one spot, let me just tell you that she’s as sweet as she is talented and I’m still in awe that I got to share a week with each and every one of those people.  The very best part of the whole entire dream was that every single person there was not only talented beyond words, but passionate about what they do.  Please take the time to check out each vendor, model and photographer listed in her post…seriously, I fell in love with all of them.  AND the really good news is that most of them are based in the Atlanta area…so if you’re planning a wedding, special event or even just wanting to share a Starbucks with some pretty incredible folks you just hit jackpot.

Because I’m a “NOW” kinda girl and the anticipation of surprises is more than I can stand, here is a little preview of a few of my iPhone photos.  Also, if you are on Instagram and a little addicted like I am, feel free to use the hash-tag #alovelyworkshop and check out all of the images from our week.

And as if ALL of that wasn’t enough, this was our view every morning.  Sea Island was the quintessential Southern city full of so much character, hospitality and charm.  I WILL be back in October and am counting down the days.

Believe me, there’s a whole lot more to come, but for now…HAPPY WEEKEND, sweet friends!

ENJOY!!!
