A UConn Graduate…

When he was younger, life was ALWAYS wide open and most days, by the end of the day, I was completely worn out and not sure how I was going to make it through to the next one.  There were many days that I would think to myself that this was going to get easier when he got OLDER; however, today I sit here much wiser and realizing that THOSE were the “easy” days or better yet the “good old” days.  As cliche as it is, the oh so wise me tells all of my clients to be thankful that they make the time to capture these moments and memories because these days are gone in a quick blink of the eye.  And yes, you’re going to miss this, you’re going to miss the terrible twos, the days that you find yourself still  in yoga pants at 7:00pm because there just weren’t enough hours in the day for you to find the shower, the constant in and out of the car on the way to this practice or that lesson or the current social event of the week …you’re going to miss the 6th grade science project that suddenly becomes a family project because although you have known about it for a week, it’s all of the sudden due first thing tomorrow morning…the making of lunches and most of all the daily cycle of laundry that includes some of smelliest uniforms that you would rather burn than bring inside your house…these are the events that cause both tears and laughter and when it’s all said and done, they are the day to day events that make up our children’s lives and memories.

Life moves by and the milestones and accomplishments that somehow seem so far off in the distance all of the sudden are over and you find yourself quietly listening to God for the next step in your life’s journey.

Today Chandler accomplished another one of those BIG milestones and is a graduate of The University of Connecticut.  And although we find ourselves buried in the what’s nexts, I would never want to miss the “HEY, you just did that” moment because we are so busy wishing these days away for the “easier” days.  Today is one of the “good old days” and Mike and I couldn’t be prouder of the young man that he has become.  Here’s to you little man that has in the quick blink of an eye become a BIG man…may God keep you safely in his grip and ALWAYS guide your path.

ENJOY!!!

Awww, baby boy let you take some pictures. Congrats Chandler and can’t wait to see what’s next for you.

Deck The Halls…

It didn’t feel like the holidays in this little farmhouse until this past Saturday.  I must admit that this picture gal knows and loves pictures, but if I ever get a second chance I think I will be a forager.  Until then, one of the greatest blessings in life is having talented friends that have mastered their art and are willing to share it with you.  Keith is without a doubt one of those guys and his talent just oozes out when you are around him which always leaves me so inspired.

As has been the case most of 2013, in Atlanta, it was pouring down rain, but I wasn’t about to let that damper my spirits.  So we threw on ours boots (his are WAY cooler than mine) he foraged and I babbled all while snapping pictures and before we knew it this place was rearranged and glorious.  The smallest of changes in this little space just has a way of making it feel more like home.

I promise to post finished product pictures soon, but I would love to hear more about your traditions for the holidays and what makes this time of year special for you and your family.

ENJOY!!!

Those vintage snips.

It is upon us…

The simple details of the season will forever be my favorite part even when they are just a little rural and stumbled upon by accident.

There are still so many fun sessions under wraps for the holidays, but until then, I hope you enjoy the little details from one of my recent session locations.

Happy Wednesday.

The Powells at Sea Island….

It’s hard to imagine that the Christmas season is upon us.  I’m so looking forward to spending special moments with family and friends, and the traditions that are uniquely our own.  One of my favorite traditions is my annual session with this sweet family.  They have become some of my dearest friends over the years and I couldn’t adore them any more than I do.

Earlier in the year, Steph and I decided that we would take this year’s session on a little road trip.  It was, as it always is, one of my favorite sessions of the year, and the dilemma immediately becomes “what will we do to top this one next year?!?!?”.  We will just have to worry about that in due time, but for now here are a few of my favorites.

AND, dare I post this session without throwing in a good ole southern “GO DAWGS” for my favorite Georgia Bulldog fans of all time!

ENJOY!!!

Steph’s Christmas card

Should’ve been…

Honestly, I should’ve been a cowgirl except when it comes to climbing fences.  I tried to act all willing and able, while holding my precious camera gear, and once I made it safely over the top rail, I fell right on my right bum and busted it.  It wasn’t graceful at all, but the good news was that I landed about a foot from a horseshoe and that means good luck, RIGHT?!?!?  It didn’t feel much like luck, but anything to do with shoes of any kind is alright with me.

Can’t wait to share this session and of course it has to be after Christmas cards are in the mail, but because I can never ever keep a secret…here is just a little sneak.

ENJOY!!!
